Stanford University

*This credit and reference from my teacher Mr. Patterson who inspired me in the beginning of my career, means a lot for me. Special thanks for him.
Taner Akcok’s startup appanalytics became a case-study at Stanford University and University of Wisconsin by Marvin L. Patterson. Mr. Patterson mentioned the use case with his words: “Taner was one of the students in my BUS205 – Managing Innovation class at Stanford in the fall of 2014. Of over 100 students that I had in that class over a five-year period, he was the only on that I know of who took the ideas about new product innovation that were presented to their full limit of potential. Before my class finished in December of that year, he had committed to an idea for a new product, and engaged three software developers in the project that worked remotely. A couple of months later he quit a very good full-time job to invest himself fully in creating a startup to bring this new product to market. Within the time span of about nine months, his level of achievement was so remarkable that it led Business Insider to declare him the “second-fastest growing business-to-business startup in the world.” I am now teaching a similar class for the University of Wisconsin’s Engineering Professional Development program, EPD708 – Creating Breakthrough Innovations. This is an online class that will be taught in the summer of 2018. To illustrate the potential impact of new product innovation on business success, one of my lectures presents case studies of exemplary companies. Until now I have only focused on Hewlett-Packard’s incredible record of success over the 40-year period between 1958 and1998, and Apple’s explosive growth from 2002 to 2014 that occurred under Steve Jobs’ leadership. In the upcoming class I will add the company that Taner founded, AppAnalytics, as a third case study. Along side of the other two industrial giants, his story will illustrate that, with no more than a good idea and some knowledge of how new product innovation is supposed to work, anyone with a fire in their belly can step out, change the world, and create financial success for themselves and their team.”
